AUSTRALIA: Lilli Rodrigues Pang participates in 7th International Festival "Stories to Change the World" 2017, June 21st

Hello Hello,

I would like to register an event. June 21 is refugee day in Australia so we have an event that celebrates the positive contribution of  refugees through story sharing. An event I think that can count for both events.

Tellers range from Lillian Rodrigues-Pang and in their first ever appearance a range of tellers from Syria, Iraq, Myanmar (Kureni), and Liberia for ryhmetime and storytime. In the story sharing we will have teenage tellers from China, Serbia, Thailand, Syria, Iraq, Tonga. For the evening live storytelling and food event we one teller from each of the following cultures Kureni, Liberia, Syria and Afghan.

Refugee Week Event
June 21
Wollongong Town Hall

Multilingual Storytime/Rhymetime 
9.30am – 11am
Storytime/Rhymetime for pre-school aged children and their parents/carers. Drop in for stories, songs, fun and games from different countries and in a variety of languages.
Presented by SCARF. Supported by The Red Room and City of Sydney Libraries.

Poetry Readings 
11.30am - 12pm
Local primary and secondary school students from a refugee background will come and share their own original poems. These poems have written in both their first languages and in English, and make up the A Poetry Object Installation also on display in the Town Hall.
Presented by Red Room Poetry and the NSW Department of Education.

Story Sharing
12.30pm – 1.30pm
Join one classroom made up of nine nationalities and languages as they share folk tales and cultural stories on stage, using drama and theatre for expression and language acquisition.
Presented by Warrawong HS Intensive Language Centre and Merrigong Theatre Company.

A Mile in My Shoes*
6pm – 9pm
Hear stories from four SCARF community members and savour traditional snacks from Liberia. Syria, Afghanistan and Myanmar!
